Antalya Airport Transport Options: A Practical Guide

Compare private transfers, taxis, trams, and buses at Antalya Airport to choose the best transport option for your resort journey.

Getting from Antalya Airport to Your Resort

Arriving at Antalya Airport (AYT) is straightforward, but deciding how to reach your final destination requires a bit of planning. Whether you are heading to Lara, Belek, Side, Alanya, Kemer, or further along the coast, several Antalya airport transport options are available once you step out of the arrivals hall.

Understanding the differences in cost, convenience, and travel times helps you pick the right mode of transport for your holiday. Here is a clear breakdown of how each option works.

Private Airport Transfers

A private transfer provides direct, door-to-door transport from the airport to your hotel or private address. Your driver waits for you in the arrivals hall holding a board with your name, assists with your luggage, and leads you straight to your vehicle.

This option is particularly popular with families, larger groups, and travellers carrying multiple suitcases. Because the vehicle is reserved exclusively for your group, there are no extra stops along the way.

Key Features of Private Transfers

  • Direct travel: Go straight to your resort without waiting for other passengers to arrive.
  • Flight tracking: Your driver monitors your landing time, adjusting for early arrivals or flight delays automatically.
  • Fixed pricing: The rate is agreed when you book, avoiding unexpected charges or meter issues on arrival.
  • Free child seats: You can request fitted child safety seats in advance for younger travellers.

At Scandinaviatransfers, we operate our own fleet of licensed vehicles and employ our own drivers. We are not a broker or booking agency, which ensures clear communication and consistent service from start to finish.

Airport Yellow Taxis

Official yellow taxis operate 24 hours a day directly outside Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and the Domestic Terminal. Taxis are lined up at designated ranks outside the main doors, making them easy to find immediately after exiting the baggage reclaim area.

Taxi fares within Antalya city centre are measured using a taximeter. For popular resort areas located further down the coast, taxi ranks usually post fixed price boards in Euros or British Pounds.

Taking a taxi works well for short, spontaneous trips without a prior booking. However, standard saloon taxis have limited boot space, which can be restrictive if you travel with heavy luggage, golf bags, or pushchairs.

Shared Shuttle Buses

Shared shuttles are organised minibus services that collect passengers heading to different hotels within the same geographic zone. You can book shared shuttles through tour operators or online travel agencies.

While shared shuttles are often budget-friendly for solo travellers, they require extra time. Minibuses typically wait outside the terminal until passengers from multiple arriving flights gather before departing. Once on the road, the driver makes several hotel drop-offs along the coast, which extends your total journey time.

Public Transport: Antray Tram and Havaş Buses

If you are travelling on a tight budget or heading directly into central Antalya, public transport options are available from the terminal area.

Antray Tram System

The Antray tram line connects Antalya Airport directly to the city centre, the main railway station, and the central bus terminal (Otogar). Trams run regularly throughout the day from the airport stop located opposite the domestic terminal.

The tram is clean, air-conditioned, and economical. It is ideal if your hotel is located in central Antalya or Kaleiçi (the Old Town). However, the tram network does not extend to coastal resort towns such as Belek, Side, or Alanya.

Havaş Airport Buses

Havaş operates shuttle buses between the airport and central Antalya, terminating near the 5M Migros shopping complex. The bus schedule coordinates mainly with domestic flight arrivals. Like the tram system, Havaş buses serve the city centre rather than outlying beach resorts.

Car Hire at Antalya Airport

Car rental desks for major international and local providers are located inside the arrivals hall in both international terminals. Hiring a car gives you flexibility if you plan to explore historical sites, national parks, and countryside beaches independently during your trip.

Driving in the Antalya region is manageable along the main D400 coastal highway. However, traffic in urban areas can be dense during peak hours. If your holiday consists mainly of relaxing at an all-inclusive coastal resort, renting a car may not be necessary.

Planning Your Arrival at Antalya Airport

Antalya Airport features two international terminals and one domestic terminal. International flights land at either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, depending on the airline you fly with. Both terminals offer clear direction signs, cash machines, and currency exchange facilities near the exit.

When arranging your Antalya airport transport in advance, make sure to provide your flight number so your transport service can monitor your arrival time. This ensures your driver is waiting for you even if your flight lands earlier or later than scheduled.
